DOWSIL 795 Silicone Building Sealant
A one-component, neutral-curing, medium modulus silicone sealant intended for weatherseal and structural applications with excellent adhesion to a wide range of materials, including glass, metal and aluminum.

What is DOWSIL 795?
A one-part, neutral-curing, medium-modulus silicone building sealant made by Dow. The chemistry is silicone and it cures with moisture from the air, which is why Dow keeps it out of totally confined joints. It carries ASTM C920 Type S Grade NS Class 50 Use NT G A O, with 50% movement.
How do you apply DOWSIL 795?
For structural applications, Dow requires prior review and approval by its local sales application engineer. Clean and dry the joint, install backing material, setting blocks, shims and tapes, and mask the edges. Dow generally requires no primer on non-porous surfaces, but recommends a test placement and may require primer on porous surfaces. Do not apply to wet or frost-laden surfaces or where the surface temperature exceeds 50 °C.
Can you paint over DOWSIL 795?
Dow does not recommend DOWSIL 795 where the sealant will be painted. TremFlex 834 is a paintable acrylic latex for general caulking, with its movement rating on its own page. It is not a substitute for a structural-glazing bond. For a painted nonstructural joint, confirm the substrates and movement requirement before choosing it.
Is DOWSIL 795 waterproof?
It weather seals a facade joint against rain, and Dow's own limitations rule it out on surfaces that are continuously immersed in water. For a joint that sits underwater, call the counter before you order.
Is DOWSIL 795 fire rated?
DOWSIL 795 does not carry a fire-test classification. Dymonic FC lists UL 2079 (ASTM E1966) and CAN-4-S115M for named fire-rated systems, but that does not make FC interchangeable with 795 in structural glazing. Use the product specified for the tested assembly.
How do you remove DOWSIL 795?
Dow does not publish a removal method for DOWSIL 795. Ask the counter to confirm the method for the substrate you are working on.

DOWSIL™ 795 Silicone Building Sealant should not be used: In structural applications without prior review and approval by your local sales application engineer; In below grade applications; When surface temperatures exceed 50°C (122°F) during installation; On surfaces that are continuously immersed in water; On building materials that bleed oils, plasticizers or solvents that may affect adhesion; On frost laden or wet surfaces; In totally confined joints (the sealant requires atmospheric moisture for cure); If the sealant is intended to be painted (paints do not typically adhere to most silicone sealants); To surfaces in direct contact with food or other food-grade applications
