Dymonic FC

Dymonic FC is a high-performance, fast-curing, single-component, low-modulus, hybrid sealant, formulated with proprietary silane end-capped polymer technology.

Dymonic FC is a hybrid sealant from Tremco for expansion and control joints and perimeter caulking around windows, doors and panels. Tremco prohibits application over damp or contaminated surfaces, and paint compatibility must be checked for the chosen paint. Cranco carries it, and which counter has it on the day changes, so ask at the counter.

Dymonic FC is a one-part hybrid sealant made by Tremco on silane end-capped polymer. It goes into expansion and control joints, precast concrete panel joints and perimeter caulking around windows, doors and panels. Tremco rates it ASTM C920 Class 35 with 35% movement, and it skins in 1 hour against the 2 to 3 hours of Dymonic 100.

What is Dymonic FC?

Dymonic FC is a one-part, low-modulus hybrid sealant made by Tremco, formulated with silane end-capped polymer, and Tremco's data sheet is where the word hybrid comes from. The chemistry matters when you are choosing between the two: Dymonic 100 is Tremco's polyurethane in the same family, rated Class 50, and Dymonic FC is Class 35 and cures faster.

What is Dymonic FC used for?

Expansion and control joints, precast concrete panel joints, and perimeter caulking around windows, doors and panels. Tremco's sheet also names EIFS, aluminum, masonry and vinyl siding as substrates it adheres to.

How long does Dymonic FC take to cure?

Tremco gives a skin time of 1 hour and a tack-free time of 3–4 hours at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity, but no full-cure or return-to-service time. FC will not green crack due to early movement and must not be applied over damp or contaminated surfaces.

Is Dymonic FC paintable?

Yes, and Tremco prints a caveat beside it: "Although Dymonic FC is paintable, this does not imply adhesion to and compatibility with all paints." Test the paint on a sample bead, or ask Tremco Technical Services about Technical Bulletin No. S-09-05.

Is Dymonic FC waterproof?

It seals a moving joint against weather at up to 35% movement. Tremco rules it out for chlorinated, potable, heavy or waste water, and for use under a deck coating, in the limitations quoted at the foot of this page. For a joint that carries water, call the counter before you order.

Is Dymonic FC fire rated?

Tremco lists UL 2079, tested as ASTM E1966, and CAN-4-S115M on the sheet, both of which are fire tests for joint systems. The rating belongs to the tested assembly rather than to the cartridge, so check the specific UL system with the counter before you order for a rated joint.

Is Dymonic 100 a better sealant than Dymonic FC?

Dymonic 100 is ASTM C920 Class 50 and has +100/-50% movement capability in typical field conditions. Dymonic FC is Class 35 with ±35% movement. Dymonic 100 adheres to damp or green concrete; Tremco prohibits applying FC over damp or contaminated surfaces. FC skins in 1 hour and is tack-free in 3–4 hours, compared with 2–3 hours and 6–8 hours for Dymonic 100. Choose for the joint’s movement, substrate and exposure requirements; skin and tack-free times do not establish full cure or return to service.

Do not apply over damp or contaminated surfaces. Do not use under polyurethane deck coatings. Use with adequate ventilation. Always utilize the accompanying SDS for information on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Health Hazards. Not recommended for use in chlorinated, potable, heavy or waste water.
