Sika Boom ARCTIC is a one-component, low expansion, CFC-free polyurethane foam, with dispenser gun, specially formulated for applications in extreme cold conditions.
SikaBoom ARCTIC Polyurethane Foam is a polyurethane foam from Sika. Sika lists it for filling and sealing of penetrations (pipes and ducts), air sealing and insulating, filling of penetration in walls. Sika gives an application temperature range of -25 to 30 °C and requires the product to be preconditioned to at least +5 °C before application. What is SikaBoom ARCTIC used for?
Cold rooms first: Sika names refrigerated warehouses and commercial freezers. Then filling and sealing utility penetrations for pipes and ducts through walls and floors, air sealing and insulating, filling gaps and voids such as formwork, installing window and door frames, and sealing out dust, noise and draft.
How cold can you apply SikaBoom ARCTIC?
Sika specifies an application range of -25 to 30 °C. Precondition the product to at least +5 °C before application. Once cured, the foam has a service temperature range of -40 to 80 °C. SikaBoom AS-PRO
How much does one can of SikaBoom ARCTIC fill?
Sika's technical data gives 65 litres plus or minus 5 from a 750 mL can, and its advantages line puts the high yield at up to 70 litres depending on temperature and humidity. Twelve cans to a case. The 65 litre figure is the one with a tolerance on it, so plan the can count off that.
How fast does SikaBoom ARCTIC cure?
Tack free in 6 minutes plus or minus 2 at a 1 cm bead by ASTM 1622, cuttable after 20 to 45 minutes, and cured at 24 hours. A wider bead takes longer than the 1 cm Sika tests at.
Will SikaBoom ARCTIC bow a window frame?
Sika says the low expansion helps prevent bowing or warping of window frames and other elements. It prints the same advantage line on the AS-PRO can.
How long does SikaBoom ARCTIC keep?
Fifteen months from production in the original sealed can, stored upright and dry, out of direct sun, between 5 and 30 °C. Sika says storage above 30 °C or below 5 °C shortens that, and the product should be preconditioned at a minimum of 5 °C before it is gunned.
Can you paint SikaBoom ARCTIC?
Sika's only sentence about paint is a limitation: paint or coat the cured foam for best results in outdoor applications, because cured foam discolours under ultraviolet light. Paint is a protective coat on this product, and Sika publishes no paintability specification.

Limitations from Sika
Storage above 30°C and below 5°C shortens shelf life. Product should be preconditioned at minimum 5°C. Cured foam will discolour if exposed to ultraviolet light. Paint or coat cured foam for best results in outdoor applications. Lower temperatures decrease yield and curing time.
