What is SikaBoom AS-PRO used for?
Installing window and door frames, filling gaps and voids, sealing out dust, noise and draft, filling penetrations in walls, and air sealing and insulating. Sika's reason for the low expansion is that it keeps a window frame from bowing or warping as the foam rises.
How cold can you apply SikaBoom AS-PRO?
Down to -12 °C, and up to 30 °C, which is what the all-season name refers to. Cured, it holds from -40 to 80 °C. Sika says lower temperatures cut both the yield and the curing time, so a cold can gives fewer litres than the 40 on the sheet.
How fast does SikaBoom AS-PRO cure?
Tack free in 6 minutes plus or minus 2 at a 1 cm bead by ASTM 1622, cuttable after 20 to 45 minutes, and cured at 24 hours. A wider bead takes longer than the 1 cm Sika tests at.
Can you paint SikaBoom AS-PRO?
Sika's only sentence about paint is a limitation: paint or coat the cured foam for best results in outdoor applications, because cured foam discolours under ultraviolet light. Paint is a protective coat on this product, and Sika publishes no paintability specification for it.
How much does one can of SikaBoom AS-PRO fill?
About 40 litres, plus or minus 5, from a 750 mL can, and Sika ships 12 cans to a case. Yield moves with temperature and humidity, and a cold can gives less.
Is SikaBoom AS-PRO fire rated?
It is UL 723 classified under ASTM E84 and CAN/ULC-S102-10, with a flame spread of 10 and smoke developed of 15 under UL file R38677. That is a surface-burning classification. For a residential fireblock listing, Hilti's CF-AS CJP carries one and this foam does not.
How long does SikaBoom AS-PRO keep?
Fifteen months from production in the original sealed can, stored upright and dry, out of direct sun, between 5 and 30 °C. Sika says storage above 30 °C or below 5 °C shortens that.

Limitations from Sika
Storage above 30°C and below 5°C shortens shelf life. Lower temperatures decrease yield and curing time. Paint or coat cured foam for best results in outdoor applications. Cured foam will discolour if exposed to ultraviolet light.
