SILICONE PLUS Windows and Doors is a silicone sealant from DAP. DAP lists it for windows, doors, siding. DAP gives the application temperature as -37 to 48 °C, which the product and the surface both have to meet on the day. Silicone Plus is DAP's silicone sealant for windows, doors and siding. It carries ASTM C920 Class 25, moves plus or minus 25% under ASTM C719, goes on between -37 and 48 °C, and holds from -40 to 148 °C once cured. DAP puts it back in service and rain ready 30 minutes after application.

What is DAP Silicone Plus used for?
Windows, doors, siding, trim, gutters, flashing, vents, pipes, corner joints and above-ground foundations. DAP lists wood painted and unpainted, glass, ceramic, porcelain, vinyl, most plastics including PVC and ABS, aluminium, most metals, drywall, plaster, composite materials, fibre cement board and fiberglass among the substrates it adheres to. Interior and exterior work are both cleared.
Is DAP Silicone Plus paintable?
No. DAP's sheet gives the paint ready time as not paintable, and its instruction is to paint the substrate surface before the sealant goes on. For a joint that has to take paint afterwards, DAP's acrylic latex caulks are the ones its sheets clear for it, and Alex Fast Dry takes brush paint 20 minutes after application.
How long does DAP Silicone Plus take to cure?
DAP gives a 10 to 15 minute working window for tooling, a tack-free time of 50 minutes, and a full cure of 24 hours. It is rain ready and back in service after 30 minutes. Sealant in a space totally confined from the air will not cure at all, which is DAP's own line.
What colours and sizes does DAP Silicone Plus come in?
The 319 mL cartridge comes in white, clear, almond, black and brown. The 83 mL tube is clear only. DAP puts the coverage of one cartridge at 16 linear metres with a 5 mm bead.
How cold can you apply DAP Silicone Plus?
Down to -37 °C, and up to 48 °C. Once it has cured it holds from -40 to 148 °C in service, which is the widest cured range of the three DAP products Cranco carries.
What joint size does DAP Silicone Plus take?
Up to half an inch wide. Past that depth DAP calls for a foam backer rod. The sealant is rated plus or minus 25% joint movement under ASTM C719 and meets ASTM C920 Class 25.

Limitations from DAP
DAP: joint width should not exceed 1.27 cm (1/2 inch). If joint depth exceeds 1.27 cm (1/2 inch), use foam backer rod. Allow 24 hours for sealant to fully cure. Sealant will not cure in totally confined spaces.
DAP: not recommended for filling butt joints, surface defects, tuck pointing, structural glazing, continuous underwater use or high temperature surfaces.
DAP: not recommended on surfaces that might bleed oils, plasticizers or solvents. Best adhesion and compatibility are not achieved with substrates made of methylmethacrylate, polycarbonate, polypropylene, polyethylene or polytetrafluoroethylene. Evaluate such substrates before using sealant.
DAP: not paintable. Paint substrate surface before applying sealant.
