Proglaze
Proglaze is a single-component, moisture-cure, acetoxy, silicone sealant for a variety of in-field and in-plant glazing applications.
Proglaze is a silicone sealant from Tremco. Tremco lists it for glazing (cap bead and metal-to-metal joints). Tremco rates its movement capability at 25, which decides whether a moving joint is inside its range. Cranco carries it, and which counter has it on the day changes, so ask at the counter.
Proglaze is Tremco's single-component, moisture-cure, acetoxy silicone for in-field and in-plant glazing, including cap beads and metal-to-metal joints. Its data sheet gives 7 to 15 minutes of tooling time and a tack-free time of 10 to 20 minutes, its product page gives a skin time of 20 minutes at 75 °F and 50% relative humidity, and it takes plus or minus 25% dynamic movement under ASTM C719.

What can you not use Proglaze on?
Tremco keeps it off surfaces sensitive to corrosion by acetic vapours, which the cure gives off, and off concrete, brick and mortar substrates. It is also not intended for continuous water immersion, and it should not go on damp or contaminated surfaces. Metal is the substrate it is for. How fast does Proglaze skin?
Tremco gives the skin time as 20 minutes at 75 °F and 50% relative humidity. The 7 to 15 minutes on the data sheet is the tooling time, which is the window to tool the bead after it goes on, and the sheet puts it tack free in 10 to 20 minutes under ASTM C679. Tremco says it stays easily gunned in all types of weather conditions.
What does acetoxy cure mean for Proglaze?
It means the sealant releases acetic acid as it cures, which is the vinegar smell. Tremco's limitation follows from it: keep Proglaze off surfaces sensitive to corrosion by acetic vapours, and off concrete, brick and mortar. Do you need to test Proglaze before a run?
Tremco says compatibility between Proglaze and the substrate should be confirmed before use, and that the joint interface must be sound, clean and dry for good adhesion. On a glazing job that is one test bead against a whole elevation of cured sealant that has to come off.

Limitations from Tremco
Compatibility between Proglaze and the substrate should be confirmed prior to use. Do not use Proglaze on surfaces sensitive to corrosion by acetic vapors (a by-product of sealant cure) or on concrete brick or mortar substrates. Proglaze should not be applied to damp or contaminated surfaces. For good adhesion, the joint interface must be sound, clean, and dry. Proglaze is not intended for continuous water immersion. Always use Proglaze with adequate ventilation.
